The Job:As part of our growing Commerce Experience business, we are building our in-house creative capabilities to serve our clients’ needs for quality, high-performing digital and commence creative. The Director, Design reports into the Creative Director (Group Director) and will ideate, concept and execute designs that can be developed into multi-format creative deliverables across multiple brands and campaigns.
This person will collaborate with the Creative Director and VP of Creative to ensure top notch art direction, as well as manage a small team of designers in the development of those creative deliverables, on behalf of our clients and the agency. Critical to this role is the ability to design mockups and composites that bring ideas to life, in addition to the general hard skills necessary to do design work on behalf of current clients. Additionally, this role will also support brainstorms, video/photoshoots, operational processes, internal marketing initiatives, and business development activities, all related to the design function.
As a people manager, this position will oversee and mentor designers to progress their design executions and professional growth.

• Facilitate and contribute to productive brainstorms with Creative Director, Creative Strategist and larger team (Design, Production, Experiential, etc) to develop strategic concepts across UX, video, photo, ads, email, and other formats• Oversee the creation, implementation, and maintenance of scalable design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency across all digital platforms and deliverables• Designs brand assets, within brand guidelines and with an experienced creative lens for what works and what doesn’t, for client’s app experiences, social, .com and other properties• Establishes visual tone, character, and messages that will effectively communicate with the target audience and fulfill the project objectives• Supports concepts and layouts with clear rationale and maintains ownership of work from ideation to launch• Collaborates with the team to construct innovative ideas for clients, and brings them to life in a way that helps clients to envision them in actuality• Presents new ideas, and ongoing design work to clients in a confident, concise, and thorough manner• Proactively seizes opportunity to create timely content against viral trends, and larger cultural moments• Collaborates with various members of the team to deliver a range of superior creative executions• Responsible for the design execution for multiple brands across an array of digital platforms, web and IRL• Develop unique and interesting executions within the social media landscape, overarching digital space, and IRL• Communicate to the client our creative perspective and processes, serving as the client visible leader for the design practice area• Participate in client presentations with respective teams• Manage multiple projects while inspiring & motivating both your creative teammates and clients• Is open to learning new processes and tools to help assist ideation and content creation• Develops presentation materials for business development projects as needed• Manages and mentors Design team members, including providing constructive feedback during Creative Reviews, reviewing work, and helping to develop their design and self-management skills.• Keeps creative and adjacent teams, up to date with new processes, tools and innovative executions
Knowledge and Skills Required· 10 years of direct experience in the digital design field, preferably within a creative agency, with experience as a people manager· Formal graphic design training in the form of a degree or equivalent additional working experience in the field · Proven expertise in managing, creating, and scaling design systems and UI component libraries (highly technical skillset within Figma)· Specialization in designing user-friendly interfaces (UI) across digital platforms, following best practices for accessibility and usability· Strong past work/portfolio across digital creative formats including website, app, paid media ads, and social media· High design aesthetics, innate interest in typography and design· Stellar communication and client presentation skills· Must have a solid understanding and desire to keep up to date with innovation, industry, and design trends· Expert in the Adobe suite and Figma
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations• Completes training as required for client work and their industry regulations, (such as accessibility training as needed in 2025 for UHOne). • Completes training as it relates to individual job demands, such as, for example, developing skills in or familiarizing oneself with new AI tools, management tools, design programs and/or media platforms and applications.
Physical Activity and Work Environment• Position may involve light physical activity pertaining to photo and video production. This includes lifting tripods, gear, props or assistant producing

Salary Range
$130,000.00 - $155,000.00
A successful applicant’s actual base salary may vary based on factors such as individual’s skill sets, experience, training, education, licensure/certifications, and qualifications for the role. As an organization, we take an aptitude and competency-based hiring approach.
